FINE was one of the workshops presented at the “Kick off new economy workgroup, building the new economy together” event, organized in a collaboration between VNO-NCW West, Internet Society Nederland (ISOC NL) and Dutch New Narrative Lab (DNNL) on April 24th, 2025, at the Google Headquarters in Amsterdam.
The event was quite popular, with 80 attendees, and focused on the new economy and diversity, both in gender and underrepresented groups. After two keynote speakers and several lightning talks, participants started with a general networking round. After that, they could join several pods and spark sessions, with FINE being part of the network round, and the workshop “Fintech as Motor for Inclusive Entrepreneurship” was one of the spark sessions, reaching around 20 people that were circulating among rounds.
In the spark session, FINE discussed the position of women and underrepresented groups in the new economy and especially in fintech and the role it can play in increasing the roles for these groups. Several studies show that women and underrepresented groups do not get enough opportunities in tech. In the Netherlands, women get only 2% of funding.
